Newborns
Newborns

Your little miracle is only this tiny for a very short time.  In those first few weeks of life they are changing daily & before long your sleepy newborn has turned into a smiley baby.  What better time to capture all those precious, little details...those perfect newborn lips, beautiful eyelashes, that fluffy hair!  Let me do all that & more for you.

When to book  & scheduling your session

I recommend that you make your booking around the time of your 20 week scan, although a lot of people do choose to book as soon as they have had their 12 weeks scan.  Once your booking fee has been paid, your space in the diary is secured & then all we do is wait for baby to arrive!  Once baby has made their appearance all you need to do is drop me a message & we will schedule your session from there.  Newborn sessions are best carried out while baby is between 5-14 days, however if this is not possible, for whatever reason, it would not be a problem if your baby was slightly older.  I have had month old babies in the studio that have slept better than a 4 day old baby!

What to expect

Newborn sessions take place in my home studio in Shepshed, Nr Loughborough & last between 2-4 hours, depending on how well your baby sleeps.  To make sure baby is as comfortable as possible, the session will take place in a warm room with white noise playing in the background.  By trying to recreate the home in which your baby has lived for the last 9 months, we hope they will fall into a lovely deep sleep, ready for their first photo shoot.  Newborn sessions are always carried out in a very calm & relaxed environment, so much so that many parents take the opportunity to grab 40 winks while I am working with their little one.  I only ever book one newborn session per day, this allows me to concentrate my full attention onto your family without having to watch the clock.  If you are planning on bringing older siblings to a session, this is not a problem, although I do ask that once they have had their photos taken, they are taken home (or to a local park/soft play) while we continue the session with your newborn.  This is the best way of ensuring your newborn is as settled & sleepy as possible.

What to bring

You will be pleased to hear that there is no, big, long list of items you need to bring with you to your session.  Just your lovely baby, some extra milk (if bottle feeding), a few extra nappies & some snacks to keep your energy up!  I will provide all the lovely headbands, hats, outfits etc that you see in my galleries, so please don't worry about bringing anything for baby to wear.  If you are planning on having some family photos please bring either a white/black or neutral coloured top/vest top.  I will always ask dad's if they are happy to go topless, the skin on skin images this creates with your baby are just beautiful, so this is always something worth considering.
